Explosion in Anarkali Bazaar, three deaths, dozens injured #Baaghi

According to Baaghi TV, the incident took place at Anar Kali, a well-known bazaar in Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab.

The blast killed three people and injured 20 others, who were rushed to a nearby hospital. A heavy contingent of police has reached the spot, and the scene has been sealed off. According to police, the blast occurred at a prize bond shop.

According to initial reports, the explosion occurred due to a cylinder, the injured have been transferred to Mayo Hospital. According to Baaghi TV reports, Assistant Commissioner City, Faizan Ahmed, has reached the hospital.

Motorcycles at the scene caught fire after the blast which was heard far away, shattering the windows of nearby shops and banks. The blast destroyed six motorcycles, while a ditch has been created at the scene.

Two of the injured have been identified as 30-year-old Adnan and 40-year-old Jamil. Twenty-two people have been injured, while five others are reportedly critical. Authorities have confirmed one child among the dead. 

DC Lahore Omar Sher Chatha took notice of the cylinder explosion near Anar Kali Pan Mandi and instructed the security forces to provide immediate medical facilities to those injured in the cylinder explosion.

He also directed the concerned Assistant Commissioner and Rescue 1122 to reach the spot immediately and insitiate an investigation in the matter. He added that Rescue 1122 provides immediate medical aid to the injured.

According to a private TV channel, the blast near Pan Mandi was carried out by a time device. Forensic sources were quoted as saying that it was being determined how much explosives were used in the blast.

The Punjab Chief Minister took notice of the alleged cylinder blast in Anarkali and sought a report from the Inspector General of Police. The Chief Minister directed that the best medical facilities be provided to the injured. He added that the incident should be investigated and a report submitted.

DC Lahore Omar Sher Chatha directed the Civil Defense Officer to deploy a Bomb Disposal Squad in Anarkali and complete the sweeping of the area. Videos of the aftermath of the Lahore blast have surfaced on the social networking site Twitter. The video shows cars and motorcycles on fire after the blast. While the bodies and the injured are seen lying on the ground, horrific scenes can be seen in the videos.

MS Mayo Hospital says 18 injured were brought to Mayo Hospital. In addition, an emergency has been declared at Mayo Hospital, and the condition of 5 injured is critical. Every possible facility is being provided to the injured.

DIG Operations Lahore said that the nature of the blast is being ascertained, evidence is being collected. An investigation is underway into whether a motorcycle may have been used in the blast, it is too early to say. According to preliminary information, who was involved in the planted device blast will be identified soon.

Leader of the Opposition Shahbaz Sharif has condemned the Lahore blast and said that he regrets the loss of precious lives due to the Lahore blast. Terrorism in Lahore after Islamabad is not a good omen for the country.

Meanwhile, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz tweeted on the social networking site Twitter that the blast at Anarkali Bazaar, which was crowded and the busiest area, was a very sad and disturbing incident. Three people, including a child, were killed and dozens were injured. May Allah have mercy on all of them, their families, and Pakistan.
