Terming all the allegations fake, the fans chanted slogans such as, “Meesha Shafi come to the court.” Some said, “Bhai Hamara Hazir Hai (Our brother is present). Some asked Shafi to face Ali Zafar.
Omar informed the court, “After the matter was posted on Twitter, Meesha told me that Ali tried to harass her twice.”
On request of Zafar’s lawyer, the hearing has been adjourned till February 1.
According to earlier reports of Baaghi TV, in a hearing of the case on Monday, January 18, rapper Ali Gul Pir failed to appear before the court after which a Lahore sessions court summoned him on February 9.
Reports tell that Meesha Shafi also didn’t appear for the hearing. Her counsel informed that she was out of the country and requested the court to excuse her.
FIA officials have sought more time to complete the investigation and present the accused before the court in the next hearing.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Dec last year registered the case on the complaint of Zafar, who had accused Meesha Shafi, Leena Ghani, Iffat Omar, Fariha Ayub, Faizan Raza, Haseemuz Zaman, Ali Gul Pir and Maham Javed of running a coordinated vilification campaign against him on social media.
On December 16 last year, FIA filed a challan against Meesha Shafi and 8 others for running a defamatory campaign against Ali Zafar on social media.
It is to be noted that in April 2018, at the height of the Global MeToo movement, Shafi had accused Zafar on social media of sexual harassment on multiple occasions.
