May 4, 2021: Facebook, the world’s largest social networking site, has announced that it will pay 50 million to journalists who report uniquely.

BaaghiTV: According to foreign news agency Reuters, Facebook will sign deals with journalists and writers who want to make money through social media for its new publishing platform. The role of this platform is to reward writers, reporters and journalists who raise their voices for oppressed or vulnerable communities and worthy causes. The rationale is to support contributors who work for a good cause but cannot be a part of mainstream media for some reason.

Currently, Facebook has solicited applications from only US freelance journalists for this offer. Applications will be reviewed jointly by the International Center for Journalists and the National Association of Hispanics, after which selected journalists will be given the opportunity to start a business.

It may be recalled that the idea of a publishing platform from Facebook was made public last month and the platform will be linked to Facebook pages equipped with self publishing free tools for writers and journalists through which they will also be able to disseminate newsletters or for own website creation.
