In October last year, the FATF decided to keep Pakistan on the gray list until February 2021 due to non-implementation of six of the 27 recommendations. When Pakistan was added to the gray list in 2018, Pakistan’s financial system and laws were found to comply with 13 of the FATF’s 40 recommendations, while a one year time was given to implement the remaining 27 recommendations.

By February 2020, Pakistan was able to implement only 14 recommendations. Therefore, the FATF has given more time until October 2020, so that the remaining 13 recommendations can be implemented. The FATF meeting in October 2020 described the implementation of six recommendations as unsatisfactory and identified four areas in which more work was needed. For this, Pakistan was given extra time till February 2021.

Pakistan has been on the FATF’s gray list since June 2018, while India and its allies have been trying to get Pakistan blacklisted. India’s attempts to blacklist Pakistan in the FATF have failed twice. No country supported India’s conspiracy, India once again failed miserably.

FATF members said that Pakistan is taking effective steps, many steps are commendable. India’s demand to blacklist Pakistan was rejected.

It should be noted that Pakistan is abiding by all the conditions of FATF. A committee has been formed on the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
