No Mafia can take advantage amid the crisis: PM

The report also mentions anonymous buyers of sugar. A record of export permission has also been sought from the government. The decisions of the Economic Co-ordination Committee are also part of the report. The report clearly states on whose orders the subsidy was given and why? How the bet was played by the sugar mafia is part of the forensic audit report.

It may be recalled that PML-N leaders Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Khurram Dastgir had appeared before the commission on their own. They had offered their cooperation to the commission for assistance in the investigation and verbally informed Prime Minister Imran Khan of their position.

It is to be noted that the inquiry committee set up on the directive of Prime Minister Imran Khan on the sugar crisis has revealed in its report that the six groups have taken the form of mafia and it affects the prices of sugar.

According to the report of the committee, the six groups have a 51% share of the total sugar production and they can influence the market by joining hands. The control of a few people over sugar production, and most of them with a political background, shows how they can influence policy and administration.
