FIA Tightens its Noose around Petroleum Mafia and Ministry of Energy
According to sources, FIA Lahore has registered cases against Fossil Energy and Askar Oil (Petroleum Marketing Companies) following inquiries into the petroleum crisis in June 2020 upon orders from the Federal Government.
According to Baaghi TV’s reports, FIA Lahore arrested CEO Fossil Energy Nadeem Butt, OGRA member of gas department Amir Naseem, member of oil department Abdullah Malik and DG Oil, Ministry of Energy and Petroleum Shafiullah Afridi and Assistant Director Oil Imran Abro.
Sources also said that OGRA officials issued illegal petroleum marketing licenses. Officials of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum Division issued illegal petroleum import quota.
Petroleum Marketing Companies have spread a network of illegal petrol pumps under OGRA across the country more than those approved of by Ashirabad.
According to sources, the accused were involved in collusion against the accused for illegal petroleum marketing license, illegal petroleum import quota and sale and purchase of illegal petroleum imports. These action amounted to the detriment of billions of rupees to the national exchequer and there are accusations regarding money laundering of billions of rupees.
