Firing of Indian Army on Line of Control, 4 civilians martyred
Rawalpindi: Indian Army’s provocation on the Line of Control. Four civilians were martyred in the firing. According to reports, four persons including three youths and a woman were martyred and one civilian was injured in two different areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir near the Line of Control (LOC).
Nikial’s Assistant Commissioner, Sardar Omar Farooq, said that 21-year-old Razim Saleem, his 18-year-old brother Tazeem Saleem and cousin-in-law Ali Maroof, 14, were targeted by Indian shelling in Kotli district of Nikial sector. The boys were busy flying pigeons and were unaware of the aggression on the other side of the LOC, as there were no signs of tension.

Citing eyewitnesses, he said a shell had fallen near the three boys. As a result, Razim and Tazeem died on the spot. Whereas Ali was rushed to Tehsil Hospital Nikial in critical condition.

The assistant commissioner said Ali died of his injuries on the way to the hospital. His body was sent to the village after offering funeral prayers at the hospital. He said that two of his animals were injured in the shelling.
Sardar Omar Farooq said that the shell coming from occupied Jammu and Kashmir was fired from a 60 mm motor gun.
The death toll from provocations by the Indian Army has risen to 12 this year after four people were killed in Azad Kashmir. While 102 other civilians have been injured.
Azad Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider condemned the shelling by the Indian Army in violation of the ceasefire agreement. They said such measures were aimed at diverting attention from the embarrassment in Ladakh. Kashmiris cannot be deprived of their right to self-determination.
