Sept 2, 2021: The Pakistan FO on Thursday condemned India’s actions in forcibly taking custody of the body of Syed Ali Gilani, the Hurriyat leader of the occupying forces in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), before his last rites.

According to FO spokesman Asim Iftikhar, the house of the late leader was raided while preparations were being made for his funeral. He observed that the occupying forces also harassed Gilani’s family during the raid. The spokesperson urged the international community to hold India accountable for its inhumane acts in the IIOJK. He quoted the Indian government as saying that it would not allow burial at the designated place as a last wish of the deceased.

“Even after the death of Syed Ali Gilani, the Indian government is still afraid of him,” Iftikhar added. The FO spokesperson said that even after the death of Kashmiri leader, he was being treated inhumanely.

The FO Spokesperson said that it was a reflection of the anger, cruelty and barbarism of the Indian occupying forces. The spokesman said that India was violating all the principles of civil and human rights in the occupied valley.

The FO spokesperson, Asim Iftikhar noted that the Indian media was reporting on the burial of the Hurriyat leader and the imposition of curfew in the occupied valley. The spokesman urged the international community to take note of the Indian government’s unwarranted behavior.

The 92-year-old leader died in Srinagar on Wednesday night.

His death prompted Indian authorities to close security at IIOJK. Occupying forces erected barbed wire and barricades on the roads leading to his home in the central city of Srinagar when the family announced his death.

No one in the valley will be allowed to leave their homes, armed Indian police said.

Thousands of security forces were immediately deployed and mobile internet services were suspended across the valley. Armored vehicles and trucks patrolled several roads in Srinagar.
