Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi has left for a two-day official visit to Turkey, at the invitation from Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

According to reports, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran Rahim Hayat Qureshi and other senior official of the Iranian Foreign Ministry bade farewell to the Foreign Minister at Tehran airport. FM Qureshi, representing Pakistan, will attend a tripartite meeting between Pakistan, Turkey ad Afghanistan.

The Foreign Minister will convene meetings with the Turkish leadership. According to reports, representatives for Pakistan and Turkey are set to discuss bilateral relations and promotion of bilateral cooperation.

The Foreign Minister will also discuss preparations for the 7th Summit of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC), during his meeting with FM Çavuşoğlu. He will further discuss the developments in the Afghan peace process and achievements of the the goal towards a peaceful and stable Afghanistan. Foreign Minister Qureshi will highlight Pakistan’s efforts in lieu of the peace process.

According to reports, FM Qureshi’s visit to Turkey is a continuation of high-level talks between the allied states. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu visited Pakistan in January 2021, and the two Foreign Ministers met on the sidelines of the ninth meeting of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process Ministerial Conference on March 29, 2021 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
