Oct 20, 2021: Former Australian batsman and television pundit Michael Slater was arrested on Wednesday on domestic violence charges.

The 51-year-old now a well-known television pundit was arrested in connection with an alleged incident last week.

New South Wales Police confirmed that they met with a 51-year-old man at his home on Wednesday morning and took him into custody. Police said he was charged with “fear of bodily harm with intent to endanger / harass / injure the carriage service and beat / intimidate”.

The allegations – related to harassment and beatings by phone or social media – came after reports of a domestic violence incident on October 12.

Michael Slater held the top spot in the Australian Test batting order for almost a decade, scoring 5,312 runs before retiring in 2004. He has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear in court next month.
