Oct 20, 2021: Pakistan cricket team will face South Africa in a warm-up match for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup today in Abu Dhabi.
The national T20 squad will leave for Abu Dhabi at 2 pm (PST) before the match, which will start at 6 pm (GST). The squad’s new batting consultant Matthew Hayden will address a virtual press conference tomorrow (Thursday) ahead of a training session at the ICC Academy Grounds in Dubai.
The press conference will begin at 11 a.m. (GST) and 12 p.m. (PST).
Media representatives who wish to attend the press conference can contact Pakistan Cricket Board Communications Manager Ibrahim Badees at least two hours before the session.
Led by Babar Azam, the T20 World Cup squad attended an optional training session at the International Cricket Council (ICC) Academy Ground. Captain Babar Azam also attended a training session with senior players Muhammad Hafeez and Sarfraz Ahmed.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Wasim Jr., Usman Qadir, Khushdal Shah, Shahnawaz Dhani, Muhammad Nawaz and Haider Ali were also present at the ICC Cricket Ground.
On Monday, Pakistan beat West Indies in the opening T20 warm up fixture.
Pakistani bowler order batsmen Fakhr Zaman and Babar Azam scored impressive 46 and 50 runs respectively while Pakistani bowlers also took timely wickets to limit West Indies to 130 runs.
Earlier, West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first against Pakistan. West Indies’ Ravi Rampal sent Mohammad Rizwan packing early in the 13th over, while Hayden Walsh took the wickets of Babar (50) and Mohammad Hafeez, who went on a duck.
Pakistani bowlers performed strongly against the aggressive West Indies side. West Indies never looked comfortable batting first, losing wickets at regular intervals and ending their innings at 130/7 in just 20 overs.
