Lahore, 30th August: Four special flights carrying around NATO soldiers have departed for various countries from Islamabad airport during the last 24 hours.

According to details, as many as 109 NATO officials and soldiers have left for Belgium and 30 others departed for Sweden from the Islamabad International Airport in the last 24 hours.

Sources privy to the matter have informed that 13 Afghan nationals have also reached Islamabad from Kabul, 7 out of them have been kept at the German embassy and 6 have been taken to a hotel.

More than 20,000 evacuees from Afghanistan land at Islamabad Airport

It may be recalled that special flights carrying Afghan and other foreign nationals continue to land at Islamabad airport after being evacuated from Afghanistan amid the Taliban take over.

According to details, over 20,000 Afghans and other foreigners in as many as 332 flights from military and private airlines landed at Islamabad International Airport in the wake of the Taliban takeover of Kabul.

Meanwhile, embassies of different countries have set up counters for the convenience of residents of their respective countries or Afghans who want to relocate to countries that have been completed by the Civil Aviation Authority at the New Islamabad International Airport.

According to sources, desks of Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Turkey, Belgium, Korea and Denmark have been set up at New Islamabad International Airport to facilitate evacuation.

Non-natives and Afghans will be allowed to evacuate after August

It may be noted that the evacuation process from Afghanistan started on August 16 via a special flight operation to evacuate stranded people at the Kabul International Airport.
