French forces have killed ISIS leader: President Macron

Paris: President Emmanuel Macron has stated on Twitter that French forces have killed the Islamic State (ISIS) leader Adnan Abou Walid al Sahraoui.

According to reports, French news agency AFP has stated that Adnan Abou Walid al Sahraoui, head of ISIS, was killed in an operation by the French troops in Greater Sahara. President Emmanuel Macron then tweeted the news on social networking site Twitter, citing the occurrence as a huge success.

Further details of the operation were not divulged apart from the fact that the terrorist was killed in Greater Sahara. President Macron, in his tweet, wrote, “Adnan Abou Walid al Sahraoui, leader of the terrorist group Islamic State in the Greater Sahara was neutralized by French forces. This is another major success in our fight against terrorist groups in the Sahel.”

It may be recalled that Adnan Abou Walid al Sahraoui founded ISIS in the Sahara region in 2015 and subsequently became wanted in attacks on US troops and foreign aid workers. the United States also announced a $5 million reward in 2017 for anyone who could provide information on the terrorist.
