Germany lifts entry ban on travelers from five countries
Germany has made some changes to its travel bans to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, and has eased some restrictions for India, Britain, Russia, Portugal and Nepal.
The leading German scientific institute, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), published some of its new recommendations in this regard on Monday, July 5, on the basis of which this decision has been made.
In light of the new guidelines, people coming to Germany from the United Kingdom (UK) will now have to comply with the milder quarantine conditions. This change means that it will now be easier to travel to these four countries. According to RKI, those who have been vaccinated with both vaccines or those who have fully recovered from COVID-19 will not have to stay in quarantine when they return to Germany.

People who have not been vaccinated will have to stay in quarantine, but now this period will be only ten days, and if such people test negative for coronavirus, they will be allowed to go within five days instead of ten.
Until recently, returnees from all four countries had to go through 14 days of quarantine in Germany without any discrimination. Only German citizens were allowed to return from these countries, while citizens of these countries were still barred from entering Germany.

The decision was taken after talks between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson last Friday. The process will begin on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. Just last week, German Health Minister Jens Spahn signaled a change in some policies in this regard.
Authorities in Berlin have expressed concern that the arrival of British nationals could spread the highly contagious DELTA variant of coronavirus. It should be noted that the Delta variant was first discovered in India. But now the new virus is also present in Europe, which is why Germany has downgraded the UK to a coronavirus infection, classifying it as a “high-risk area”. Earlier, Germany had classified the UK as a “virus variant area”.

Germany still lists 11 countries as “virus variant areas”, including Botswana, Brazil, Estonia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Uruguay. Germany has seen a sharp decline in coronavirus infections in recent weeks and conditions have improved considerably, but there is also concern about the rise in new strains of the virus.
