Government to Focus on E-commerce

Islamabad (2nd Oct, 2019): Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Special Adviser to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting, claims E-Commerce is an significant step towards ease of business for the Prime Minister. 

According to reports, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has stated that Prime Minister, Imran Khan wants to focus on E-commerce to encourage Pakistan’s youth towards small businesses. In a series of tweets earlier on Wednesday, Dr. Awan has stated that the purpose behind the policy is to harmonize the states economy with the existent contemporary needs so as to improve business activity.

Moreover, the Special Adviser has added that digitizing financial matters will help the government to ensure protection of and investment of consumer rights. As per E-commerce policy, Dr. Awan has argued that companies with a worth of one million rupees per anum must register with SECP, adding that the State Bank of Pakistan will provide proper guidelines to the traders with regards to “digital onboarding”.

Reports further confirm that Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has confirmed that a simple single tax system is set to be introduced to avoid double taxation to make E-commerce effective and efficient.
