Govt caps vaccine price for Russian Sputnik V

Lahore, 21st March, 3:00 PM: Pakistan Government has fixed the price for the Russian vaccine Sputnik V.

Baaghi TV: According to reports, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has determined the price of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine imported by the private sector in the country.

Sources told ARY News on Sunday that DRAP’s processing board in a meeting held on March 19 recommended fixing the price of two doses of the Russian vaccine between Rs 8,200 and Rs 9,000.

They informed that the recommendation has been forwarded to the health ministry to present the same before the federal cabinet for final approval, after which the drug regulatory authority will put out a notification fixing the price of the vaccine.

According to reports, earlier this week, a Karachi-based pharmaceutical company received the first consignment of the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine. An official from that firm said that the price of the vaccine will be fixed by the government soon.

It is to be noted that in February, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan had granted approval to the Russian vaccine for COVID-19, for emergency use.
