Grand Mufti of Ukraine steps into the battlefield

Kyiv: Ukraine’s Grand Mufti Saeed Ismagilov has reportedly joined the Ukrainian military in the fight against Russia, to defend his homeland.

According to the World News Agency, the Grand Mufti accepted the demand of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, urging people to fight against Russia, instead of leaving the country.

Religious scholar Saeed Ismagilov also called on Muslim citizens to come out and defend their land and strengthen the hands of the army. We must all respond to the Russian aggression, he claimed.

Ukraine’s Grand Mufti has criticized Muslim religious leaders for approving Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to go to war, saying “those who do so approve of the killing of our mothers, sisters, and children.”

Earlier in the day, NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) announced that it was sending 30,000 troops to the northern European country of Norway for exercises on Monday, March 14. The highlight of these NATO military exercises is that they will be held a few hundred kilometers from the Russian border.

NATO’s military exercises have been dubbed the Cold Response 2022. About 30,000 troops, 200 aircraft, and 50 ships from 27 countries are expected to participate in the exercises. These are the largest exercises of NATO forces this year.
