HBL PSL 7: Lahore Qalandars register clinical win over Quetta Gladiators

Feb 14, 2022: Lahore Qalandars have maintained their second position in the points table of the HBL PSL 7 by defeating Quetta Gladiators in the 20th match of the tournament.

Qalandars now have 10 points, two points behind Multan Sultans, who are top of the points table.

Fakhr Zaman and Kamran Ghulam’s half-centuries helped Lahore Qalandars beat Quetta Gladiators by eight wickets in the 20th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season seven on Sunday. After Abdullah Shafiq was dismissed for 19, both the top-order batsmen lightened the Quetta Gladiators’ 144-run target with eight wickets and 14 balls to spare.

Earlier, a quick opening spell by Shaheen Afridi pushed Quetta to the back foot. Afridi had already taken two big wickets in the over from Jason Roy and James Vance as both the batsmen left without disturbing the scorers.

The next three wickets of Ahsan Ali (8), Sarfraz Ahmed (12) and Umar Akmal (25) also fell early, adding to Quetta’s woes. Iftikhar Ahmed (52) and Hassan Khan (17) put on a 52-run stand for the sixth wicket, after which Noor Ahmed (13) put the score on 141/7.

Meanwhile, Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars are placed first and second in the HBL PSL 7 points table with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

While Islamabad United are placed third with six points, followed by Quetta and Peshawar in the fourth and fifth places and Karachi Kings are reeling at the bottom of the table with six losses in a row.
