Karachi, 5th May: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast a heatwave in Sindh’s capital from today as the mercury is expected to rise up to 42 degrees Celsius.

Central Municipality Chairman Rehan Hashmi on Wednesday said that in view of rising temperature and heatstroke in Karachi, the alarm bell has rung. On the direction, five heatstroke relief camps have been set up at various places in Central District.

Heat Stroke Relief Campus Nazimabad Petrol Pump Chowrangi, Umer Khan Dispensary North Karachi, Five Star Chowrangi, Water Pump Chowrangi, and Liaquatabad have been set up at number ten. Saad Malik along with Director Rescue Dawar Abbas, THO, and others visited various heatstroke relief campuses and reviewed the facilities provided on campus by the staff of the Medical and Rescue Department.

On the occasion, Chairman Central Municipality Rehan Hashmi said that Central District, realizing its responsibility, has set up heatstroke prevention camps for the people at central places of the district with its help, including doctors, paramedical staff, ice packs, ice jackets, ORS, drapes, towels, caps, mineral water, cold drinks and all the necessary items for protection from extreme heat have been made available.

He directed the management of the heatstroke camps to maintain the heatstroke camps regularly to provide facilities to the people till the heatwave subsides.

Chairman Rehan Hashmi appealed to the management of K Electric and Water Board to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity and water to the citizens especially on the occasion of heatstroke so that hospitals, children, the elderly, women, and men can have some peace of mind.
