Saturday, July 11th: Human Rights Watch Demands Release of Jang Geo Group Editor-in-Chief Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman, Baaghi TV reports.
Director Asia Human Rights Watch said that harassment of Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman’s family should be stopped, Pakistani authorities should immediately end political allegations against Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman, Pakistani authorities should stop using vague anti-corruption law against dissent. The arrest warrant is ridiculous.
Human Rights Watch further said that the Pakistani government should stop using the NAB against journalists, the opposition and critics.
Earlier, NAB Lahore had also arrested Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman, editor-in-chief of Jang Geo Group. Two days ago, the Lahore High Court had rejected Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman’s bail application on medical grounds.
