IG Punjab orders crackdown against kite manufacturing and use of metallic strings

Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that crackdown against metallic strings , kite makers, kite sellers and kite-flyers has been ordered to be intensified across the province.

He said that special operation should be carried out in big cities including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad and Gujranwala against those involved in buying and selling kites and metallic strings.

Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that special teams of police officers should be formed to conduct night raids along with day time and bring culprits of this dangerous game to book. IG Punjab said that if any citizen was injured or killed due to kite flying in any area, strict action would be taken against the concerned officer. He said that those who endanger lives of citizens in the name of entertainment do not deserve any sympathy and such violators would be arrested and severely punished. He issued these instructions to all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs of the province.

Instructing the officers, IG Punjab said that strict implementation of Kite Flying Act should be ensured in all districts of the province and awareness should be provided to people by making announcements in mosques to prevent this bloody game. IG Punjab requested parents to keep their children away from this deadly game. Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that co-operation between police and citizens is very important in prevention of crime so citizens should also realize their responsibility and if they see any such activity of kite flying, they should immediately report to police at 15 so that the accused can be arrested and legal action can be taken. IG Punjab said that this cooperation of citizen with police can save precious life of a citizen.
