IG Punjab orders to registration of cases against road blockers
Lahore: IG Punjab orders to register cases against those who cause trouble to the citizens by blocking the road.
Case should be registered against the organizers and miscreants who create problems for the citizens by blocking the road under the guise of protest.
Ambulances and other emergency services vehicles often do not find their way due to roadblocks due to protests or sit-ins.
If the protesters are government employees, then letters should be written to the concerned departments for legal action as well as departmental action against them. IG Punjab

Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani has said that those who block roads through protests or sit-ins do not deserve any concessions therefore there should be no delay in registration of cases and also legal actions against such protesting organisers and miscreants. He added that the protesters blocking the highways affected the daily life of the citizens as well as challenged the state writ and often ambulances and other emergency services vehicles get stopped due to road blockades by protests or sit-ins. The road is blocked which also causes irreparable loss of precious human lives. Therefore, the smooth flow of traffic on highways, and other roads in all districts of the province should not be affected in any way and the traffic system should not be affected under the guise of protest. Immediate cases should be registered against them. He further said that if the protesters were government employees then letters should be written to the concerned departments for departmental action against them along with legal action against the protesters so that they could take a different path instead of protesting to solve their problems. He issued these instructions in a letter issued to all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs of the province today.
Instructing the supervisory officers of the province in the letter, IG Punjab further said that smooth flow of traffic on urban areas, main highways and adjoining highways is key in maintaining the routine and daily life activities of the citizens while on these highways Protests can have a devastating effect on people’s lives. Sometimes women, children and others are caught up in the protests for hours, and in the absence of immediate legal action, the protesters return to the streets. The IG Punjab has urged the officers to register cases against such organisers and miscreants who block the road under the guise of protest and create problems for the citizens and legal action against those responsible should not be delayed. He said that smooth flow of traffic on other roads should be maintained in all cases and detailed reports should be sent to the Central Police Office on a regular basis by registering cases against the protesting elements across the province.
