Instructing the supervisory officers of the province in the letter, IG Punjab further said that smooth flow of traffic on urban areas, main highways and adjoining highways is key in maintaining the routine and daily life activities of the citizens while on these highways Protests can have a devastating effect on people’s lives. Sometimes women, children and others are caught up in the protests for hours, and in the absence of immediate legal action, the protesters return to the streets.  The IG Punjab has urged the officers to register cases against such organisers and miscreants who block the road under the guise of protest and create problems for the citizens and legal action against those responsible should not be delayed.  He said that smooth flow of traffic on other roads should be maintained in all cases and detailed reports should be sent to the Central Police Office on a regular basis by registering cases against the protesting elements across the province.
