Islamabad, 7th May: Today an important meeting regarding the lockdown situation in Pakistan is expected which will be chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to the report of Baaghi TV, the meeting of the National Coordination Committee chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan has started, which will address the issues of lockdown and the ease in it. The meeting will be attended by Chief Ministers of the four provinces, the Federal Ministers, and the Advisors.

Federal Minister Ghulam Sarwar, Shafqat Mehmood, Shibli Faraz, Asad Umar, Shah Mehmood Qureshi are also present in the meeting along with Khusro Bakhtiar, Hammad Azhar, Fakhr Imam, and Sheikh Rasheed present in the meeting. Nishtar, Zulfi Bukhari, Lieutenant General (retd) Asim Bajwa, and others are also present in the meeting.

The National Coordinating Committee will also approve SOPs with ease in lockdown. According to sources, shopping malls across the country are likely to reopen from May 10. While the meeting is also expected to decide on the opening of the domestic flights. Prime Minister Imran Khan will take the nation into confidence over the decisions of the NCC.

Earlier, the National Command and Operations Center had approved proposals to ease lockdowns across the country from May 11, to open small shops, Eid shopping stalls, local transport, and domestic flights, but the NCOC has suggested that schools, wedding halls, hotels, and large shopping malls should be closed and railway service should not be restored for the time being.

It was also decided not to change the rules and regulations for religious gatherings in the last fortnight of Ramadan. National Command and Operations Center recommends complete lockdown on Sunday, no meetings, processions should be allowed.

The meeting also proposed to maintain lockdown on Saturdays and Sundays and to keep shopping malls closed in the country.

While Sindh and Punjab have opposed the reopening of educational institutions since June 1.

According to Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan, the NCOC meeting has decided to operate domestic flights. Initially, it is planned to start flights from Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, and Quetta airports.

The federal cabinet has already approved the easing of the lockdown, the Punjab government is in favor of easing the lockdown and Balochistan has extended the lockdown till May 19, while the Sindh government is awaiting the federal decision to ease the lockdown.

 

 

It is to be noted that the lockdown is in force till May 9 due to the Coronavirus.
