Imran Khan not part of Oxford University chancellor race

Oxford University has released a list of eligible candidates for the election, including 38 names, but Imran Khan’s name is not among them.

The university administration stated that, for the first time, open applications were invited, and the chancellor election committee reviewed all applications according to regulations.

The first round of voting will take place on October 28, where voters will cast their votes. The top five candidates will proceed to the second round of voting.

After Lord Patten of Barnes announced his retirement, the university will hold its first-ever chancellor election based on online popularity. Former students have been invited to rank the candidates.

Candidates include Lord William Hague, Lord Peter Mandelson, Lady Elish Angiolini, and Dr. Margaret.

Earlier, Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has filed nomination papers to contest for the chancellorship of Oxford University.

“As per Imran Khan’s instructions, his application form to Oxford University Chancellor Election 2024 has been submitted. We look forward to everyone’s support for a historic campaign,” PTI leader Zulfikar Bukhari said in a post on X.

Previously, the former cricket star served as the chancellor of the University of Bradford from 2005 to 2014.
