India questions Sikh Community’s loyalty, possibility of Court-martial of 300 soldiers

India questions the loyalty of its Sikh soldiers after reaching a ceasefire with Pakistan. After defeat in the war, the Modi government has raised questions about the loyalty of the Sikh chief of the Indian Air Force due to which more than 3,300 Sikh soldiers may face court-martial. In a high-level secret meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and the military leadership, Air Force Chief Amarpreet Singh was accused of undermining the performance of the Indian Air Force during the recent operations against Pakistan. According to leaked information from inside sources, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval sarcastically asked Air Chief Marshal Amarpreet Singh, “Did you serve India honestly in this war?” To which Air Chief Amarpreet Singh replied, “I am serving India according to my Sikh faith.” The exchange indicates a growing internal distrust within the Indian military ranks, especially with regard to Sikh officers and men.
