India has refused to recognize Azad Kashmir Medical College graduates as doctors.

According to reports, the Medical Council of India has said that students graduating from Azad Kashmir Medical College cannot practice medicine in India. The MCI issued a notification on August 10th that the whole of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are an integral part of India. However, Pakistan has illegally and deliberately occupied parts of the region.

No medical colleges located in the limits of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and these parts of Ladakh have been recognized under the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Under 1956. According to reports, they will not be eligible to register for medical practice in India.

According to a senior Indian health ministry official, a man with a medical degree from an Azad Kashmir college had sought permission from the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council to practice. During the investigation of the degree, it was found out that the medical college from which he had obtained his degree was not approved. That decision has since been made.
