Indian Air Force allows women to fly fighter jets
NEW DELHI: The Indian Defense Ministry has decided to convert the experimental scheme for recruiting experimental women fighter pilots in the Indian Air Force into a permanent one. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh informed the media on Tuesday that the decision to induct women as fighter pilots reflects the commitment of Prime Minister Modi towards women empowerment. “The MoD has decided to convert the Experimental Scheme for induction of women fighter pilots into the Indian Air Force into a permanent permit,” stated the Indian Government on their official Twitter account. The Defense Minister further said that it is the testimony to the capability of India’s “Nari Shakti” (women empowerment) and that the PM (Prime Minister) fully supports the execution of this decision.
