Indians arrested for illegally possessing highly radioactive substance

Lahore, 7th May: Indian police have arrested two men for illegally possessing highly radioactive substance. According to reports from Indian authorities, the police arrested two men on Thursday for possessing highly radioactive substance illegally. The authorities further informed that the police seized over seven kilogrammes (15.4 pounds) of natural uranium from the suspected men. The anti-terrorism squad in Maharashtra revealed that the radioactive substance confiscated is worth around $2.9 million. Furthermore, an investigation into the case is underway. The Maharashtra police further informed, “We had received information that one person identified as Jigar Pandya was going to illegally sell pieces of uranium substance, a trap was laid and he was arrested.” Police added that further investigation into the case revealed that another person identified as Abu Tahir gave him these pieces of uranium. When this person Tahir was caught by police, a huge quantity of Uranium was recovered from him. A report from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in Mumbai confirmed that the material confiscated was highly radioactive.
