Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly said that insulting the Prophet of Islam is not freedom of expression.

According to the Russian news agency, during his annual news conference President Putin said that insulting the Prophet is a violation of religious freedom and a violation of Muslim sentiments.

Putin generally praised artistic freedom, saying that people have their own limits and that it is not right to violate their freedom.

“Russia has emerged as a multi-ethnic and multi-faith state and we are accustomed to respecting each other’s traditions, but some other countries put that behind them,” he said.

Earlier, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan had been convincing the whole world that the Western world does not know how much we love and admire the Prophet of Islam. Insulting the Prophet is not acceptable for us under any circumstances.

It should be noted that in 2018, the European Court of Human Rights (EHCR) had said that insulting the Prophet of Islam violates the legitimate limits of freedom of expression and could lead to prejudice and religious hatred endangering Peace of the entire world.

The court’s decision was announced on an appeal against the sentencing of an Austrian woman named ES, who made derogatory remarks about the Prophet of Islam. The court had said the sentence against ES is not a violation of their fundamental human rights.
