IPL 2023 Opening Ceremony: Loud cheers for MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya

Cricket and glamour joined hands at the opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahemdabad on March 31 (Friday).

From singer Arijit Singh’s soothing songs to actresses Tamanna Bhatia and Rashmika Mandanna’s performances, fans had a memorable evening ahead of the first match between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. The ceremony took place for the first time in two years following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Arjit treated the jam packed crowd with a number of his hit songs, including Kesariya, Channa Mereya, Kabira, Apna Bana Le Re, Lehra Do, Tujhe Kitna Chahane Lage Hum, Jhoome Jo Pathaan, Dance Ka Bhoot, Deva Deva, Ghungroo, Twist, Illahi, Pyaar Hota Kayi Baar Hai.

Arijit was joined by Pritam, who was seen playing the flute. After Arjit, actresses Tamanna Bhatia and Rashmika Mandanna set the stage on fire. Tamanna made her entry on the hit song ‘Tum Tum’ and also performed on chartbusters of ‘Pushpa’ movie, Tune Maari Entriyaan and Chogada.

Rashmika Mandanna greeted the crowd before displaying her dance moves on Saami Saami and Srivalli from her movie ‘Pushpa’. Mandanna also danced her heart out on Dholida and the Oscar-winning song Naatu Naatu.

Following the glittering performances, BCCI President Roger Binny, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, IPL Chairman Arun Singh Dhumal, CSK captain MS Dhoni and GT captain Hardik Pandya joined Arijit, Tamanna and Rashmika on the stage. Dhoni and Pandya made their way to the stage on chariots before Pandya, the leader of the defending champions, brought the IPL trophy.
