ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has stopped the construction of a temple in the federal capital and issued a notice to the CDA. According to reports, local lawyer Chaudhry Tanveer has filed a petition in the IHC against the construction of a temple in Islamabad.

Justice Amir Farooq heard the petition of local lawyer Chaudhry Tanveer today. Petitioner Chaudhry Tanveer, while seeking restraining order on the construction of the temple, said that the land allotted for the construction of the temple in Sector H-9 of Islamabad was returned. There is already a temple in Syedpur village on which the government could have renovated it. The land allotted for the temple in H-9 is a violation of Islamabad’s master plan.

Justice Amir Farooq remarked that the CDA (Capital Development Authority) should state whether the temple at H-9 is part of the master plan of Islamabad or not. Minorities have full rights and they also have to be taken care of.The court issued notice on the request to stop the construction of the temple immediately and sought a reply from the CDA.
