Karachi continues to face power outages

Karachi, 15th July: Karachi continues to face prolonged power cuts in the sweltering heat.
According to Baaghi TV, the people of Karachi are still facing prolonged power failures amid hot and humid weather in the city.
As reported by The News, residents of Karachi continued to face prolonged power failures amid claims by the K-Electric that it has eliminated load shedding in the city.
According to the power supplier, the power cuts in the city were due to ‘load management’. Areas facing power cuts in the city include Defence, Clifton, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Gulistan-e-Johar.
Defence Phase V, Clifton Block 2 and 5, Boat Basin, Gulistan-e-Johar Block 19, 1 and 2 as well as the different areas of Gulshan-e-Iqbal faced extreme power outages.

KE claimed that the power cuts should not be termed as ‘unannounced load shedding’, as they were temporary faults, however, the power was being supplied to the other parts of the city.
Earlier, it was told by the power supplier that certain areas of Karachi would experience load shedding due to a technical fault in the Bin Qasim power plant.
Incompetence of K-Electric exposed by the ministry
The spokesperson had further informed that there is a decrease in the power generation ability of KE by 130-megawatts due to the fault. He added that there will be temporary load management in the affected areas of Karachi.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson assured that the temporary load shedding will end as soon as the fault is rectified. He also informed that they are in touch with the power ministry regarding the supply of furnace oil.
