Karachi Express derails in a terrifying accident

Lahore, 7th March: A Karachi Express train derailed near Rohri in the late hours of Sunday.

Baaghi TV: According to reports, nine bogies of Lahore-bound Karachi Express derailed near Sangi Railway station in Rohri.

As per reports, a woman passenger was killed while 30 others got injured. According to sources, rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.

Army and Rangers troops along with engineers were immediately dispatched to the accident site. As per reports, troops were sent to take part in rescue operations. 

The accident took place near Mando Dero between Rohri and Pannu Aqil where two bogies of the train derailed. 

The train bogies overturned and fell into a nearby pond. According to Edhi sources, relief activities are underway at the accident site.

According to the information from the IG Railway Arif Nawaz, the accident occurred at around 1 am.

Railway officials said the train derailed due to old and rundown tracks.

They added that after the accident, six to eight trains were stopped at different stations.

Meanwhile, sources at the Civil Hospital Rohri have informed that 23 injured were brought to the hospital, 11 of whom were discharged after being given first aid while 2 are still under treatment.

Railways Minister Azam Swati monitored the rescue operation himself. IG Railway said that a high-level committee will be set up to determine the cause of the accident.
