Karachi’s Shaheed-e-Millat underpass to be named after Umer Sharif

Oct 3, 2021: PPP leader and Sindh government spokesman Murtaza Wahab on Saturday announced the renaming of Shaheed Millat Underpass after famous Pakistani comedian Umer Sharif, who passed away on Saturday due to his illness.
The Karachi administrator also shared the progress on his official twitter handle. The tweet read, “In recognition of the services of the late Omar Sharif, KMC will name its underpass” Umer Sharif Underpass “at the confluence of Shaheed Millat and Haider Ali Roads.
Sindh Information Minister Saeed Ghani on Saturday announced that arrangements were being made for the burial of the legendary comedian at Abdullah Shah Ghazi graveyard as per the wishes of the deceased.
Meanwhile, the actor’s body will be repatriated after the local government authority in Germany’s Nuremberg issues the death certificate. The dead body will return by either an air ambulance or a commercial flight.
The iconic comedian, a household name, who ruled hearts with an impressive career spanning over five decades had been undergoing treatment in Germany for heart and kidney ailments.
Umar Sharif, the star of Mr Charlie was 66 when he passed away yesterday, three days after he was diagnosed with Pneumonia in Germany where an air ambulance carrying him to the US from Pakistan via landed after his health condition deteriorated. He was expected to resume his travel to the US for medical treatment but the stay in Germany was delayed due to a critical condition.
Earlier, Prime Minister, President, opposition leaders, actors, and athletes expressed deep grief over the demise of national icon, comedian and actor Umer Sharif.
