Islamabad February 11, 2021 (APP): Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan wants a solution to the Kashmir issue through dialogue. The Kashmir issue is not an internal matter of India, the Kashmir issue is on the agenda of the Security Council. He was addressing a function of Kashmir Cultural Heritage and Photo Exhibition at the Foreign Ministry on Thursday to show solidarity with Kashmiris.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, President Azad Kashmir Sardar Masood Ahmad Khan and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz also addressed the function. The ongoing siege, enforced disappearances of Kashmiri youth, extrajudicial killings and other atrocities were highlighted in detail. Hymns and songs in Kashmiri language were sung in the gathering to express solidarity with Kashmiris.

Foreign Secretary Sohail Mehmood and senior officials of the Foreign Ministry were also present on the occasion. The Foreign Minister inaugurated a photo exhibition on Kashmiris’ struggle for the right to self-determination.

The purpose of the event was to highlight the serious human rights violations in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and to pay tribute to the determination of the unarmed Kashmiris.

Addressing the function, the Foreign Minister said that atrocities and human rights violations against innocent Kashmiris by the occupying Indian forces in Occupied Kashmir continue unabated. He said that Occupied Kashmir has been under complete military siege for the last 18 months. The Kashmiri people are facing severe hardships due to communication disruptions, shortage of medicines and food

The Foreign Minister said that the Kashmir issue is not an internal matter of India, the Kashmir issue is on the agenda of the Security Council. The Foreign Minister said that the Kashmir dispute should be resolved in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He said that India has made unsuccessful attempts to link the right to self-determination movement with terrorism while India continues to violate the ceasefire agreement on the LOC. The Foreign Minister said that Pakistan wants to resolve the issue through dialogue.
