Kashmir Problem a Flashpoint between Nuclear-Armed states

The Kashmir conflict is currently a major global issue, as well as a significant threat to global peace. Regardless of the UN’s numerous aims, it has completely disregarded international law. If this issue isn’t resolved soon, the world might face a major nuclear calamity.

After the atomic tests between Pakistan and India in 1998, the US urged the two countries to ease tensions and improve ties, but India refused. According to Zafar Iqbal, Pakistan has been promoting fear-mongering activities in Pakistan by showcasing them for some time. Despite the fact that Kashmir was a Muslim-majority territory, it was not allowed to join Pakistan following India’s partition. Kashmir shared close social ties with people in modern-day Pakistan.

Following India’s partition, a bigger portion of Kashmir needed to join Pakistan. The international community urged the two countries to resolve their differences and strengthen their ties, but India refused.

For some time, India has been flaunting its backing for Pakistan’s scare-mongering activities. It is widely assumed that India is preparing a phony flag operation against Pakistan in order to divert attention away from its internal problems, which might lead to nuclear war. Last year, Pakistan shot down two Indian airplanes and arrested a pilot who was later released on parole.

In the past, there have been four devastating confrontations between the two countries. Both countries are nuclear powers and, in the event of a confrontation, they could use both of their nuclear bombs without reservation. The UN security council is required to suspend them for seventy years. For a long time, India has avoided the Kashmir issue by employing various methods, such as segment shifts and smart reasoning.

India’s action on August 5, 2019, is an outright violation of every single UN aim. Since August 5, 2019, the Indian government has turned Kashmir into the world’s largest prison. If the assembled countries are unable to make progress in this fashion, an atomic war between the two countries may erupt. The consequences of which will be felt throughout South Asia as well as the rest of the world.
