Lahore, 4th May: The United States is getting ready to administer Pfizer and German partner BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine to children aged 12 and above soon.

According to reports, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will start vaccinating kids aged between 12 and 15 with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against the coronavirus from next week.

According to reports from the New York Times, the German drugmakers had already announced in March that their vaccine has been proven safe and effective during clinical trials and can be used in kids from 12 to 15.

The FDA said that its review of expanding the vaccine’s emergency use is still going on and hence, did not provide any further details.

In the USA, children aged 16 and above are already being inoculated with the Pfizer vaccine against the coronavirus.

It is to be noted that Pfizer-BioNTech is a messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine that does not contain any live virus and is formed from both synthetic or chemically produced components obtained from naturally occurring substances like proteins.

According to reports, the Pfizer vaccine is soon to arrive in Pakistan by June this year.
