Lata Mangeshkar 2nd death anniversary today

On 6 February 2024, India is remembering legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, also known as Lata di, on her second death anniversary. The singer was one of the major contributors to the growth of Indian music and has received numerous accolades and awards.

Born on 28 September 1929, Mangeshkar started training to be a singer at the age of five, and her singing career continued for over seven decades.

She has recorded songs in more than thirty Indian languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Bengali, and others. Some of her most popular songs include ‘Lag Jaa Gale’, ‘Mohe Panghat Pe’, ‘Hothon Mein Aisi Baat’, ‘Chalte Chalte’, ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’, ‘Paani Paani Re’, ‘Ajib Dastan Hai Yeh’, ‘Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’, and ‘Neela Aasman So Gaya’, among others.

In 2001, she was awarded the Bharat Ratna, becoming only the second singer to receive India’s highest civilian honour.

Mangeshkar’s death anniversary is a day to remember her incredible talent and the joy that she brought to millions of people through her music. Her legacy will live on for many years to come.
