Macch Bridge section collapses, cuts off land route

Baaghi TV: A part of Machh Bridge in Balochistan collapsed due to recent rains, cutting off the land route of Machh from the rest of the country, while an alert has been issued by the administration in Bolan.

The embankments of the Machh Bridge in Bolan have been depleted for the past six months. Recent rains and floods in the river have further damaged its embankments, causing the opening section to collapse. Earlier, when a part of Machh Bridge collapsed, it took 3 years to repair it, but the irresponsibility of the concerned department added to the hardships and sufferings of the people.

A rain alert has also been issued by Commissioner Naseerabad Abid Saleem after the recent rains. Commissioner Naseerabad said that after the ongoing rains in Bolan, there is flood situation in Bolan river, administration is ready to deal with any situation effectively, all concerned agencies are on alert. An appeal has also been made to avoid unnecessary travel on the highway.

Meanwhile, in Karachi, it rained at night and 6 people trapped in Korangi river were evacuated. Due to heavy rains for 2 days, cracks appeared in several places in Malir river. Water entered areas and houses, power went out in many areas. It also rained in Baloch Colony, Shahra-e-Faisal, Nursery, PECHS, Ferozeabad, Mahmoodabad, Cantt Station, Qayyumabad, Defense, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad. Six people were trapped in the Korangi Kazwe River. Edhi volunteers evacuated everyone, including a policeman.

Dams on the Sikhan River were breached, water reached Arafat Town, Madina Colony, Khaldabad, Marghi Khana and the National Highway, while water also entered several houses. The National Highway was closed to traffic as a precautionary measure. Traffic on National Highway was diverted to Malir. Saeed Ghani also reached the area. The Education Minister said that the lock was not broken, only the door was broken, the flow of water was stopped by installing a gate, machinery started working to extract water from the population.

Earlier, the Sindh Education Minister visited different areas of Karachi, posted videos of University Road, Abu Al Hassan Isfahani Road, Gulistan-e-Jauhar area being cleared, Stargate, Munawar Suhrawardy underpass, nursery, metro pool videos were also posted. According to reports, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that all possible help should be given to the aggrieved citizens in Karachi.
