Sept 23, 2021: A man in Canada’s Quebec province has punched a pharmacy nurse for administering the Covid19 vaccine to his wife ‘Without His Consent’.
It was not clear whether the suspect opposed vaccinations or whether his wife had in fact been inoculated at the same pharmacy, police said.
Police in the Canadian province of Quebec are searching for a man suspected of punching a nurse in the face for giving his wife the Covid 19 vaccine without his consent, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
Police spokesman Martin Carrier said by phone that the man met a female nurse at a pharmacy in Sherbrooke, about 5,155 kilometers (96 miles) southeast of Montreal, on Monday morning. “Our suspect went straight to the office and started yelling at the nurse,” Carrier said.
Carrier added that the man was shocked that his wife had been vaccinated at the pharmacy without his permission and hit the nurse in the face.
Health advocates say nurses around the world have faced abuse as well as losing their jobs in the long battle against Covid 19.
Carrier said it was not clear whether the suspect had opposed the vaccine or whether his wife had actually been vaccinated at the same pharmacy.
Anti-vaccine protests across Canada escalated during this week’s federal election, with some targeting schools. Demonstrators have expressed outrage at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s campaign to target hospitals and healthcare workers, and have vowed to crack down on such measures.
Quebec’s Prime Minister Francois Legault said Wednesday his government would try to pass a special law Thursday morning to prevent anti-vaccine protesters from protesting near schools and hospitals or risk facing fines.
“My patience has reached its limit,” he told reporters in Quebec City. “I think it’s important to leave our children and patients in peace.”
