Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a disaster in politics

It is unfortunate that over the last 40 years Pakistan has been ruled by two families namely: the Bhutto’s and the Sharif’s.

The Bhutto family has a history in politics since as early as 1921 when Shah Nawaz Bhutto, father of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, entered the Legislative Council of the Bombay Province. Their Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is a very mature political body or perhaps used to be.

Meanwhile, the children of Muhammad Sharif, father of former PM Nawaz Sharif, have labeled themselves as the Sharif family, with lineage from a very middle-class background, residing in Lahore. They had a steel business that led to politics in 1981 when Nawaz was suffering from financial losses, and it was a turning point in Nawaz Sharif’s life.

Sharif Family History

A man who was not intellectual, who was not famous, who was academically below the average, who was not smart enough, who has failed in acting and cricket career, who had a business mindset, unfortunately, ended up in politics and as a politician, he proved a disaster. All thanks to general Jilani. This is how the Sharif family started its politics in Pakistan.

Moreover, PML-N had no ideology behind them or goals to drive them in politics but the establishment of the time. They did their politics with complete obedience to the establishment but they played very smartly. After a few years of doing politics with complete obedience to the establishment, Nawaz Sharif started doing politics as if he were Nelson Mandela or Winston Churchill. Here the downfall of PMLN and Nawaz Sharif started meanwhile, the destruction of Pakistan had been started when General Jilani promoted Nawaz Shareef to finance minister. This is how the Sharif family is made.

Now the next generation of this family entered into politics and it’s been 4 years since they are being launched. It’s not the next generation but Maryam Nawaz only. She is the daughter of Nawaz Shareef. Whenever she has been discussed on mainstream media she is discussed for her lies, corruption, and immature statements.

PML-N & the Sharif Family

Firstly, she was exposed to the media on her marriage which is a whole story with a lot of questions but we should let it be. We can reckon that it was bad luck with her that she was exposed to the media, not with a good story. But now after a series of events, we can guess that Maryam Nawaz has a personality filled with arrogance, lies, and greed for power and besides that, she is proved totally incompetent.

Maryam Nawaz started her political career as social media leader of PMLN. From the commencement of her career as social media leader of her party to acquiring the title of vice president of party she has a history of disasters. Let me mention it clearly it was Nawaz Sharif who introduced violence in Politics and it was again Nawaz Sharif’s party that introduced extremism, abusive and offensive trends on social media. It all happened under the supervision of Maryam Nawaz.

Initially, Maryam Nawaz was perceived as a kind of social media expert and the people of PMLN were very happy that they have got someone who will handle their media department competently. Because PMLN was lacking there and Imran Khan and his party PTI was exploiting this vacuum beautifully. PTI was a kind of non-conventional party whose workers and volunteers were standing on sound ideological bases and they were selling their narrative easily. Maryam Nawaz failed the PMLN here again. But it was just the beginning of the series of her mistakes.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s foray into Politics

When the supreme court of Pakistan disqualified Nawaz Sharif for a lifetime. It opened another door for Maryam Nawaz. There was a vacuum and Maryam Nawaz was a potential candidate to fill this vacuum amongst the children of Nawaz Sharif. This is because someone from the children of Nawaz Sharif, had to be at the leading and authoritative position of the party because they firmly believe that these parties are not made for the people and someone else’s child. So, this is how Maryam Nawaz secured the title of vice president in the party and Shahbaz Shareef (Younger brother of Nawaz Sharif) became the president of the party.

Additionally, Shahbaz Sharif has been the chief minister of Pakistan’s biggest province, Punjab, for a long time. Undeniably, Shahbaz Sharif is a very dynamic politician. Although, it was hard to swallow for Nawaz Shareef and his daughter Maryam that Shahbaz Sharif is becoming president of PMLN. When Maryam Nawaz took the charge, she started playing as if she were her father’s replacement. She overruled her uncle and president of the party, Shahbaz Sharif, and started running the party in her way with no experience and zero sense of ground politics. She thought politics and being a leader is just about wearing good clothes, uploading good pictures, addressing the audience, and waving hands to the public.

The downfall of the PML-N?

Consequently, she led the party into doom and gloom. Here again, she proved a complete failure, I would rather say a disaster for PMLN. She has taken the party to the point where the party is not seeing any future. There is no hope for any miracle even. Their credibility has been buried under the statements, decisions, and tweets of Maryam Nawaz. Pakistan’s other party PPP and the conventional rival of PMLN took full advantage of Maryam’s inexperience and her desire to become a leader. Maryam’s father spent his life proving that PPP is anti-Islam, they are a stooge of anti-Pakistan forces, they have looted money but PPP exploited Maryam and bring the words out from her tongue that PPP is the party that has struggled and faced hardships for Pakistan. She praised PPP a lot in the PDM’s jalsas.

It did not stop here. Asif Ali Zardari, who is a conventional rival of her father, called him at her father’s place. Here she actually disappointed her party workers and voters. Every day her tweets are being proved totally wrong, illogical, and lies. Every day she does amateur things on social media. She has become a laughing stock in political communities. She has contested any election yet she has never represented any constituency. She has not held any public office ever. Some say she is not even properly launched in politics yet. But I see her political career has been finished before commencement.

I would rather say the politics of the Sharif family is coming to an end as it had started and all the credits go to Maryam Nawaz.
