It is unfortunate that over the last 40 years Pakistan has been ruled by two families namely: the Bhutto’s and the Sharif’s. The Bhutto family has a history in politics since as early as 1921 when Shah Nawaz Bhutto, father of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, entered the Legislative Council of the Bombay Province. Their Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is a very mature political body or perhaps used to be. Meanwhile, the children of Muhammad Sharif, father of former PM Nawaz Sharif, have labeled themselves as the Sharif family, with lineage from a very middle-class background, residing in Lahore. They had a steel business that led to politics in 1981 when Nawaz was suffering from financial losses, and it was a turning point in Nawaz Sharif’s life.
