According to Baaghi TV reports, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of JUI-F (Jamat-ul-Ulema Islam) and head of PDM (Pakistan Democrartic Movement) condemend the arrest of the renowned jounrnalist, Mohsin Baig from his house in Islamabad.

According to Fazlur Rehman, the government was trespassing on people’s privacy and houses. “How long will the people’s honour and privacy be breached?”, he questioned and sought early release of the journalist.

It should be noted that senior journalist who was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) earlier today on Wednesday, appeared before the anti-terrorism court which awarded his three-day physical remand.

The JUI-F leader also stated that the state was not giving up its good ways of exploiting institutions and silencing them, breaching freedom of speech. He said that the government is living its last days and violating the sanctity of privacy and home.

“I strongly condemn his arrest and torture at the hands of FIA. This illegitimate and facist government will have to answer for its actions,” Maulana Fazlur Rehman added.

Meanwhile, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had condemned the arrest of Mohsin Baig, saying that arrest of the journalist showed weakness and incompetence of the government. “So weak is Imran Khan that he even fears criticism of him,” the PPP chairman criticised, and adding that Mohsin Baig was arrested in the presence of his family members as if he were a terrorist.
