Karachi: A meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will be held in Karachi tomorrow to observe the month of Muharram. Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, will announce whether the moon appeared or not.

According to the details, a meeting of the Central Route Hilal Committee will be held tomorrow at the office of the Meteorological Department in Karachi to observe the new moon of Muharram 1442 AH. Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Chairman, Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, will preside over the meeting.

Meetings of zonal committees will be held in Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar while representatives of Meteorological Department will also attend the meeting for technical assistance of Ulema.

The sighting of the moon of Muharram should be decided in the meeting. In case of sighting, if the moon appears then 1st Muharram will be on Friday 21st August and Ashura will be on 30th August.

Remember that the new Islamic year begins with Muharram. Strict security arrangements are being made across the country during Muharram while a security plan has been prepared to ensure law and order.
