Ministry of Commerce forwards no proposal for extension of term of FPCCI for two years

LAHORE: Federal Ministry of Commerce has not put forward any proposal for extending the term of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry for two years.
PTI MNA from Vehari Tahir Iqbal Ch along with former Fpcci Vice Presidents  Zafar Bakhtawari and Zahid Iqbal Ch Thursday called on Iftikhar Ali Malik President SAARC Chamber and briefed him about their meeting  with federal secretary commerce Sualeh Ahmad Farooqi.He said private member moved bill in this regard and government has not  initiated any move however ministry will consult all chambers and associations on the proposed extension in the term of Fpcci.
He said issue of UBG presidential candidate khalid Tawab appeal against Fpcci elections was also taken up and secretary told that  matter is pending before cabinet committee and in the light of its decision,the DGTO will take necessary action.
Tahir Iqbal Ch further stated that UBG Secretary General Zafar Bakhtawari informed the secretary that Khalid Tawab appeal has been pending for last nine months and not yet decided on merit.
Zahid Iqbal Ch said government decision should be in the best interest of the people and the business community and term of Fpcci should remain same. He said government should not take any decision in haste and if it’s necessary to extend the term then a business referendum should be held.
