Muhammad Mustafa, who represented Pakistan in swimming competitions at the Olympics, was shot dead in Rawalpindi.
According to Baaghi TV reports, the victim was shot dead by unknown assailants, outside his house in Kothana Jatli area, who escaped from the scene.
Rawalpindi police, on arrival at the scene, seized the body and shifted it to Tehsil Headquarters. However, the cause of death could not be ascertained.
Muhammad Mustafa had represented Pakistan in the international competition held in Abu Dhabi last year. He was also known to be an employee of an intelligence agency.
Police claims they are investigating the incident from various angles.
On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar took notice of the murder of Olympic swimmer Muhammad Mustafa in Rawalpindi and demanded a report from RPO Rawalpindi.
CM Buzdar has ordered immediate arrest of the accused involved in the murder of Muhammad Mustafa and said that further action should be taken by bringing the accused under law soon.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that justice should be provided to the family members of the victim in any case. He assured to provide justice to the bereaved family.
Additionally, CPO Sajid Kayani took notice of the incident and directed SSP Operations and SP Saddar to reach the spot in Jatli area and order to investigate the incident and arrest the accused, police said. Sajid Kayani says that the accused involved in the incident will be arrested and brought to justice.
Similarly, in the October of last year, a young representative of an intelligence agency was also shot dead by armed robbers at his resistance during a robbery bid in Korangi, Karachi.
The dacoits were fleeing after a snatching near a textile factory when they also tried to rob Muhammad Jamil, 27, and opened fire on resistance.
