Lahore, 19th August: Lahore police have announced the arrest of multiple people who were spotted at Minar-e-Pakistan when a female was assaulted and harassed on Independence Day.
According to details, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Ghulam Muhammad Dogar announced on Thursday that several men have been arrested who were involved in harassing the woman named Ayesha Akram at Lahore’s Greater Iqbal Park on August 14.
According to reports from ARY News, the CCPO added that the police have made multiple arrests and that their presence has been confirmed at the time of the incident.

CCPO Lahore disclosed that data of other men among nearly 400 involved in the incident has also been received by the police and soon more arrests are expected.
Earlier in the day today Baaghi TV reported that CCPO Ghulam Muhammad Dogar and Commissioner Lahore Captain (retd) Muhammad Usman visited the female victim who was brutally harassed near Minar-e-Pakistan on August 14.
Both the officials met with the victim and her mother at their home and assured them of providing justice in the entire episode. CCPO said that they would try to ensure safeguarding women and providing them with equal rights.

Previously, CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said in a statement that the suspects are being identified through videos of the incident shared on social media. The videos were sent to NADRA to verify the culprits.
It may be recalled that a woman named Ayesha Akram was harassed by nearly 400 men on Independence Day at the Greater Iqbal Park. The men ripped off her clothes and touched her inappropriately for two and a half hours until rescue teams arrived to help her out of the park.
