Lahore, 18th August: Lahore police are tracing suspects who assaulted the woman near Minar-e-Pakistan on independence Day through videos and photos.

According to details, CCPO Lahore informed on Wednesday that the police are trying to trace hundreds of suspects who harassed a female Tik Tok star and her companions at Lahore’s Greater Iqbal Park on August 14.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said in a statement that the suspects are being identified through videos of the incident shared on social media.

He added that a number of photos and videos have been sent to the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to determine their identities.

According to the statement, CCPO Dogar has ordered the police to arrest the suspects who are visible in the video clips and said that the culprits will be traced soon.

He was quoted saying, “Those misbehaved with the girl will be dealt with strictly.”

It is to be noted that on Tuesday, the Lorry Adda police registered a case against 300-400 suspects for harassing and assaulting a woman named Ayesha Akram at Azadi Flyover on Independence Day.

A police official who asked to remain unnamed informed Dawn News that the footage is being acquired from Safe City cameras, DHA and TikTok clips. He revealed that 10 people have been identified and would be apprehended soon, the others, he said would also be identified soon.

Politicians, Celebrities Horrified at Minar-e-Pakistan Harassment Case

According to reports from Dawn News, the FIR was registered under Sections 354-A (assault or use of criminal force against woman and stripping her of her clothes), 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to commit the theft), 147 (rioting) and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Lahore police, on Wednesday also appealed to the public to help them identify and arrest the culprits involved in such heinous act.

It is pertinent to mention here that the incident occurred on August 14, at the Greater Iqbal Park to a girl when she went to celebrate and was harassed by nearly 400 men. Videos of the incident went viral on Tuesday and sparked an outrage on social media.
