Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi challenges NAB to carry out proceedings against Maryam Nawaz, stating that NAB has problems with Maryam Nawaz and those problems will go away eventually.
Baaghi TV reported that NAB has cancelled the petition of Maryam Nawaz in the Lahore High Court. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that NAB wants to silence Maryam Nawaz’s voice. The matter of bail cancellation is carriied out under very special circumstances. NAB is upset that Maryam Nawaz speaks against national institutions, NAB is upset that Maryam Nawaz talks on issues of the nation. If Maryam Nawaz speaks against the institutions, the institutions can take action. If Maryam Nawaz speaks against the government, the government can take action. NAB chairman has been a judge of the Supreme Court. He knows the law. Whether this request has been made with the consent of the Chairman NAB or without his consent, the NAB has a problem with Maryam Nawaz and that problem will also be resolved.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi further said that the case in which Maryam Nawaz has been granted bail is not even mentioned in the petition, NAB is not an institution of accountability, it is an institution to change political allegiance, the petition said that Maryam Nawaz threatened NAB. NAB is saying that Maryam Nawaz has paralyzed the institution, all these spectacles are an attempt to silence Maryam Nawaz. NAB is not being the “Shah” but becoming loyal to “Shah”. According to the petition, the government wants to play politics by standing behind NAB. NAB is a front line player in politics in the country. It is hoped that the court will reject the petition for wasting time. They will go home after paying fines here too. NAB has paralyzed the entire government.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi further said that accountability institutions are not above accountability, the sooner NAB chairman understands this, the better. We are not afraid of cases and we are not afraid of jail, said Maryam Nawaz and PML-N. There is an attempt to deprive them of their voices and constitutional rights. The only goal of the NAB is to play politics.
On the other hand, Maryam Nawaz’s bail cancellation petition has been fixed for hearing. The Lahore High Court will hear the NAB’s petition on March 15. NAB Lahore has approached the Lahore High Court for revocation of Maryam Nawaz’s bail. Taking advantage, Maryam Nawaz is summoned but she does not appear. Investigation is underway in other cases against Maryam Nawaz including Chaudhry Sugar Mills. The court should order cancellation of bail of Maryam Nawaz in Chaudhry Sugar Mills.
PML-N leader MR Nawaz’s bail granted by court in November 2019. Lahore High Court (LHC) has granted bail to Maryam Nawaz on Chaudhry Sugar Mills, but the court also ruled that Maryam Nawaz will submit passport registrar to the Lahore High Court otherwise she will have to pay a fine of 7 crore.
Maryam Nawaz was detained by NAB from outside Kot Lakhpat Jail in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. Later Maryam was transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail on judicial remand. Maryam Nawaz’s father Nawaz Sharif was unwell and was brought to Services Hospital for which Maryam Nawaz was allowed to go and meet him.
Now Nawaz Sharif has gone to London but Maryam Nawaz is still out. She is not even appearing before the NAB. Maryam Nawaz was also summoned by the NAB a week ago.
